Hi there - looking for suggestions on your favorite shoe racks. Dull topic, I know, but we're looking for the best solution to our shoe storage problems. We want to buy or build racks for our walk-in closet that would fit along the longest closet wall under the lower hanging rack to hold as many mens & womens shoes as possible. We were thinking of maybe a long, 2-tier shelf? I don't know, any good ideas? Pictures would be great.

How about instead of, or in addition to, you build a shoe rack in the garage. We find this is a very handy place to have all our shoes.

Shoe rack in the garage. Lots of room for shoes!

That looks great, but do you find that your shoes get dusty at all when your husband works out in the garage? That was sort of what we found in our last place when we had shoes in the garage. Besides, I'd probably still like to keep my fancier shoes upstairs since I don't wear them as often.
Thanks for the suggestion though, it looks great!

If you are looking for some cheaper alternatives, Ikea has some shoe racks that you could install side by side, up to as much space as you have. Or if you had the space you could add shelving, like the picture I have attached from California Closets.
(and no, we don't find the shoes get too dusty in the garage -since the shoe rack is located close to the house door and the garage is quite big)

Here is another idea for shoe storage in an entrance room or mud room.

Here is another shoe storage idea. These shoe racks by elfa for $28 (CAD) each. I like the idea that you could move your racks around if you went with this type of storage system. I saw these online at www.spacesolutions.ca
